Find the calendar for your address

  1. Open the council collection service. The GOV.UK postcode finder covers England and Wales; Scotland and Northern Ireland have separate council directories.
  2. Select your property, including the flat number if the service asks for it. Do not use a calendar for a neighbouring address.
  3. Note the next date for each waste type. Check the local instructions for when and where to put bins out.
  4. Look for service notices or holiday changes before relying on an old printed calendar.

Bin still full? Check when to report it

Look up your council's missed-bin service. Its reporting window may depend on whether one bin or the whole street was missed.

In Manchester, leave bins out if the whole street was missed; report it if they remain uncollected by noon the next day. For a single missed bin, reporting opens after 7pm on collection day. Manchester says it cannot return once more than five days have passed.

Those times are Manchester-specific. Use your own council's reporting window. Have the address, bin type and collection date ready, and keep any report reference.

Shared bins or an address missing from the search?

Ask the council which collection arrangement applies to your building. You can ask: "Which collection dates and missed-bin reporting service apply to this address?"

Check the local recycling list rather than using bin colours from another area. Business waste, bulky items and garden-waste subscriptions may use separate services.
